Lennox and Addington entrepreneurs will soon have another resource to help them succeed. Thanks to Federal stimulus funding from the Industrial Research Assistance Program, the Economic Development Office will be introducing Enterprise Facilitation to Lennox and Addington.
Developed by the Sirolli Institute, Enterprise Facilitation is a unique approach to rural economic development. It helps entrepreneurs to help themselves by building up their expertise and network in the key areas of product, marketing/sales and finance. Enterprise Facilitation has been implemented in several communities around the world to assist with business start-up and expansion and to help retain businesses in communities.
An Enterprise Facilitator will be hired to assist people with business ideas, and entrepreneurs looking for help. The facilitator won't meet them in an office, but in people's home or in the coffee shop to help them sort through their business and to connect them to resources they might not have known on their own.
Our local economy is dependent on small business and entrepreneurs and this new small business project will provide free, confidential, one-on-one management assistance to entrepreneurs. It will help Lennox and Addington grow. This will be a great example of grassroots economic development.
In addition to hiring an Enterprise Facilitator, the County will be creating a Resource Panel. This panel will be comprised of community members from all areas of business and subsections of the community who can offer suggestions to help fill the needs of business.
